Gilded Pumpkins.

I got this gorgeous idea from Country Living Magazine last year... so immediately started collecting pumpkins and gourds from nurseries and my veggie garden. I have 'cuddled' them  for one year, ignoring everyone's advice of getting rid of them, and ended up having perfectly and completely dried (and light) pumpkins and gourds to be used in my Fall decorating project now!
So a few weeks ago I started gilding. I used gold and silver...

... gold and silver mixed together too!

Before...

I used a different method from the one featured on the mag, as I was looking for a cheaper way to create something spectacular! Gold foil is absolutely GREAT for decorating purposes, but expensive, so I opted for a gold/silver spray paint!

Look how super cute this plush toy I purchased for Kim at the thrift store is... she absolutely LOVES it!

Rubber Stamp Mania.

During the past weeks, I've been affected by a severe rubber stamp mania, and couldn't help tattooing everything I had handy!! I spared the dog only! LOL
I started with some coffee-aged clothes pegs for wrapping purposes...

As you can spot I stamped Christmassy words on some, as I want to be ready this year!

I also received my Parisian and Bonjour rubber stamp sets from Andrea, so frantically started to stain tags and to stamp French words litterally everywhere!!

Here are some of my tags...

... stickers I use to secure wrapping paper or to close envelopes...

... and a gift wrapping idea for you!

Have a fabulous rest of the week!

Fall Decorating.

What I really do love of this blessed Season are pumpkins, flamboyant colors and decorations... (and ALL pumpkin- based recipes! Yum!).
I'll treat you to some Fall pictures I took in New England a few years ago.
Enjoy!

Fall Simple Pleasures (Jam Making).

After the July 'session' of plum jam making, Fall brings along sweet figs and green tomatoes to be preserved for the long winter ahead!

It's incredible how many lbs a tree can produce!
After having treated myself and my beloved ones (Kim also) to fresh figs, grilled figs with bacon, fig milkshakes, fig muffins, pancakes with figs, pizza with figs and prosciutto...  I finally have some jam jars stored away!! If you are lucky enough to have a fig tree or can find fresh figs, you the recipe is here.

Green tomatoes can be used to make yummy jam too... I prefer using NO FLAVOR gelatine.
I'll share my 'secret' with you- after removing the jam from heat, just before pouring it in sterilized jars, I add a tablespoon of rhum to it. It adds a wonderful, unusual flavor!
This type of jam is fabulous served with cheese.

Enjoy!

A Sneak Peek at Other Journals.

I cannot show you the entire journals for now as they're going to be gifts (the recipients are completely unaware of ;)), but thought it might be interesting to let you sneak a peek at them...
ENJOY and BE INSPIRED!

Have a terrific Sunday wherever you are! Fall is swiftly approaching my corner of the world... Indeed, yesterday's thunderstorms brought along yellow and red leaves (WOW) and cooler temperatures!

Lavender Salt.

If you haven't prepared your lavender salt for winter yet, this is the just perfect time!
While pruning your lavender bushes in the garden, save a bunch of dried flowers...

... crumble them in your hands and add to cooking salt. It is as simple as that!

Preserve it in a jar, and just enjoy in hot water for an aromatic tonic bath!

Journaling...

First, a heartfelt thank you for all the lovely comments you left on my latest posts, I am overwhelmed by your friendship and appreciation!
Then... Did I tell you I have been on a vibrant creative wave all summer longPlease let me indulge in showing you another of my newest creations!
As a stationery-lover, journal- lover, writing-lover, keepsake-lover (and so on, you got the idea!), I couldn't pass by the urge of making my own journal! And once started, I couldn't help but make them!
This is a stack of journals I cannot show you at the moment, because they all are gifts...

... but I can gladly show you mine!
Each one has a theme, and matching fabrics (discarded samples) are used throughout it.
My own journal has a 'FLY' theme (which I've always been in love with) for it has a special meaning to me at the moment!

A tiny birdie and a scrap from an old dictionary page with the word 'bliss' adorn the (obviously!) blue cover, together with a gorgeous photograph, vintage lace and sheet music.

The body of the journal has been made with the even tiniest scraps of paper and fabric...

... images, old book pages, writing paper...

... sheet music, envelopes, whatever my imagination suggested (and all I had on hand!).

As it is a journal, it will be soon covered with personal notes, quotes, pictures and so on...
I started on the very first page, playing with acrilic paint, a buttefly and a cute girl... I'll add inspired words later on.

Love to write my thoughts sitting on the lawn, enjoying the simple pleasures of a sharpen pencil, a cuppa and the sweet smell of Autumn moving forward!

Have a happy day,
Monica.
